What can I say except thank you. We love this show so much, we are considering marriage. Just talking about it, but it's a possibility! Your posts are a ray of sunshine, especially in these somewhat stressful times of uncertainty. However, it is so important to remember that our show is NOT cancelled. This is a good sign! Do not give up hope! Nay, I say! This is our time to rise and fight the real enemy! RATINGS! Fox is not our enemy, they want to succeed as we all do. Some of you have been throwing Firefly parties, I say this is good. I wish to contribute to those wonderful parties. Send me a SASE and I will send you an autographed photo, along with my secret recipe for a low-fat, seven layer bean dip. You will sit with your friends and enjoy my snack of choice, watching the best gorram sci-fi TV show there is! E-mail your friends! Convince them. Track down someone who knows someone who knows someone who has a Nielson box and tell them to watch it all the way through until it is picked up! This is the time for action! CHARGE!
Aside from all that, an honest heartfelt thanks from us here at Firefly. I am truly in wonder of the positive, supportive posts. Does anyone remember the posts that came out in the beginning? They said this was the worst show on the air, that it was a rip off of some Japanimation show- all before Firefly aired. Hi-larious. Now negative posts are chided and teased as our clan zealously protects our show. Sigh, it warms the heart.

So, here we all are. It seems that we are a living embodiment for the show. We are Browncoats, fighting a war we were never meant to win, but fighting none the less. The Fox Alliance has spoken, leaving us to make due with the cards we've been dealt. If you are anything like me, you've been pulling the record tabs off your precious Firefly VHS tapes, pushing along through your life still bitterly fighting the war from within.
I love Firefly. Walking around the cargo bay, the bridge, it's all been terribly painful. It does still live inside me, though. With every "gorram" or "them as can" I throw unknowingly into my daily conversation, or everytime I sit in the Captain's chair that lives in my heart, I smile with the knowledge of what we've accomplished here. We may have been on the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one. I can't remember who said that.
If ever you see me on the street, just nod and say, "Captain."
You'll make my day.

Your boundless generousity of your time and compliments, quick quips and hi-larious jokes have brightened every day that I've creeped around among you. I especially love your opinions and insights to scenes and characters, keep it coming! I am sure you have all heard of the postcard campaign. I've sent twenty. It was fun. I signed them -Nathan Fillion- and wrote things like, "Pick up our gorram show! Don't make me come over there!"

Hello all! Hope your winter/spring has been as productive and busy as mine. I've had my nose to the grindstone looking for work. Been hanging with castmembers and remembering the "good times" as we like to call them. We are all still waiting to hear Joss' news about Firefly. He has been hard at work and keeping us all updated, it looks as though something is close! I can't wait to get those tightpants on again. I've had a little time on my hands, been able to go hiking much more than i used to during crazy Firefly hours. Visited the Fox lot yesterday to see that they have dismantled the ship. Not to worry, I'm told it can be put together in a jiffy, and the crew is anxious to do just that. Meantime, I'm auditioning like crazy, praying for a job I can love as much as Firefly. FAT CHANCE!
I haven't been lurking for some time< so I'm not up on all the news, but just to dispel rumours, I DO have a computer, I DON'T have internet. So long, all.

Greetings,
I certainly hope everyone has been having a great year and is looking forward to a great summer. i"m sure you all know by now that the next big thing for Firefly junkies will be the release of the DVD box set. Things to keep an eye out for: the three unaired episodes. the audio commentaries ( I did one with Joss for Serenity and with Alan for War Stories, I know the girls did one as well.) Adam Baldwin's rendition of The Hero of Canton (the man they call "me").
All looks great on the movie front. A recent dinner with cast members, Joss and the lovely Kai confirmed rumours that we will all be big damn movie stars. Thank you Joss.
Myself, I am still recovering from the heartbreak of Firefly being cancelled. I heard from somewhere something about a Fox industry promo showing what makes them so great inculded clips from Firefly. Interesting.
My dream? Every three years make a Firefly movie, like the Bond series- but they won't start to suck after a while.

Sitting here in beautiful Vancouver, visiting friends while passing through on my way back to LA. Who else is in town? Well, Adam was here recently, but gone now. So, the next best thing and a little further to the left on the political scale we have Alan Tudyk. He's here filming the incredible I ROBOT with Will Smith and the lovely Bridgette Moyniha.. Moine... Moyne.... Bridgette M.! I'm sure she knows how to spell better than I.
One of the things I love about Canada? All the kind fans. I've definitely noticed a difference in the way I'm approached since Buffy, though. Curious.

I'm in Canada now, and I'll soon be going to Chicago to do an independant film for the very talented Pete Jones. I love the story (Doubting Riely) but mostly I'm doing it for the chance to once again bare my azz at the world. Can't wait to explore the windy city.

I had a dream last night that I was with my family, gathering in the "Family Room" as we call it- with popcorn, the fire going, sodas and Ceasars for all. We were very excited as we tuned in the television to Fox, and started to watch a very special FIREFLY CHRISTMAS. It was a great episode with beaucoup character development, a few surprises, and almost nobody got killed.
It was a great dream.

Hello, all.
It has been awhile. I hope everyone is well, and flyin' under Alliance radar. As I'm sure you are all aware, the movie is a go and I can finally breathe a sigh of relief with the same lungful I've been holding since cancellation. Let us in this time of celebration not forget all the hard work that has made this possible. Not the least of which is the incredible support of you, the fans. Stay rabid. Also, allow me to take a moment to tell you that Joss is a dirty fighting bastage and will kick anyone in the nuts to get this beautiful baby on the screen. With the quickness and strength of Tiger Kung-Fu, and the grace and magic of Dragon Kung-Fu, he has made this happen for us. All of us.
Now that the movie is for certain, I find myself fulfilled and lacking of much wanting. But I have come up with this: In much the same fashion of your Shindigs and Firefly viewing parties, go to the movie. Bring a friend. Bring two friends. Bring people to the movies. Lots of them. Now, I realize that movie going is an expensive endeavor nowadays (Alliance plot), so in an effort to keep it affordable- BRING YOUR OWN SNACKS.

I can't promise you a weekly thing, the schedule keeps me on my toes and I type slowly. However, here's a bit of a blog for you.
First day of filming for me is not the first day of filming overall. That honor was Sean's and Summer's. But all were present when we arrived in the desert out by the old abandoned mine to begin what will be two weeks of exterior shooting. I can't tell you how it warmed my heart to seethe cast not only together (I've seen that a couple of times since the show's demise), but in costume as well. Jewel looks great in a version of her old green work overalls (has she gotten taller?). Sean is appropriately overdressed for what we are doing out there. Adam's T-shirt designs and gun belts will have the fans in a tizzy, I'm sure- he looks too cool for words. Ron has had a minor overhaul and reminds me of a native american Shaman, a logical twist. Summer looks both etherial and eerie (I hope I spelled those words correktlee) walking- no, drifting about. Alan looks both relaxed and tough in his new togs and has the best footwear of all of us. Morena, of course, is Morena. One look is never quite enough. It is easy to imagine the high class she occupies in the 'verse of Firefly. Gina fuses supermodel and badass in an outfit tailored to her physique. She's been working out, you'll see.
I couldn't be happier. Everyone has slipped right back in where we left off, but there is a difference. There is some kind of special magic in the ressurection. We all feel it. We are back in a way the series never could be. I have a glad heart when I watch Joss talking to the ship's crew. I can only look at him and smile. I smile a lot these days. More even than I thought I would. Thank you Joss. Thank you Universal. Thank you crew. Thank you cast. Thank you cast especially for laughing at all the same old crappy material I used to use.

We have completed the first two weeks of filming, and with that, all the exterior shots for Serenity. No more will cast and crew have to lug equipment and themselves out to the far reaches of the desert to battle the sun, dust, smoke, or the tiny little noseeums that seem impervious to bugspray and all too eager to feast upon our flesh. Happily, we all must report to work on Monday to the stages of Universal City, where we shall face new challenges like finding our own lunches and saying something clever to passing tour trams.
Perhaps due to those minor hardships, and the amount of adventures that are crammed into one day, it seems forever ago that we started rehearsals. Yet there is a long way to go. It is a far cry from filming the series, evident in watching the previous day's work in the extreme luxury of the daily trailer. The huge screen at the end of this monstrosity entertains us with images of my favorite cast being BDH's. It is going to be a real charge the first time we get to see River going "koo koo" when her face is 17' high.
My heart now looks forward to the first time I see Serenity again. My only contact with her since I watched them pulling apart her last remnants at the Fox lot has been the cargo bay doors, with us on location. It will warm my thingyles to see her reborn, courtesy of the creative minds of Universal. This will not be an exact duplicate, folks. Learn to love it. Be comfortable with the idea of getting to know her all over again, and falling in love all over again. For she is our home now.
Let's go home.

Yes, we learn the Chinese from a tape, and it's gorram hard. How does Firefly differ? It's the first show that I've gotten in on the ground floor at the get go. Other shows I've joined while they were already in progress. The best part is that this cast and crew gets along so well together. We are family here. We look out for one another and protect each other. EVERYONE. Not just some or most. My soap opera was like that.

Thanks for the appreciation. That been dip has been in my family for almost 4 years now. Everyday when I got to work, I would organize the wee pile of mail on my table in my trailer/dressing room. Around lunch, I'd grab a bite and eat while signing photos and slip the recipe (that Kelly Wheeler helped me put together) in the 'lope and send them off that same day. Here's to hoping I can continue to get Browncoats gassy all over the nation!

Dear Jealous,
Think of it this way: By the time you get your DVDs, everyone stateside will have seen all the commentaries, special features, gag reel, etc- and nothing will be able to bring them the "first time viewing joy" that you can look forward to.
The Fire DVD set is much like heroin, and second time viewers are just looking fruitlessly for that white wedding.

We all still spoke of that incredible costume of yours, complaining that we didn't get a good enough look at it close up at the Fancy Dress event. The work, the detail, the idea, the talent most of all. It was a real pleasure meeting fans in that way, and I'll be doing it again, soon. Joss fans, in my view, tend to be kind, well spoken folks. I feel lucky to have had all the attention.
I got a token or two from the fans, but by far my fav was wee Caleb. The other cast members of Buffy and FF were sooo jealous, wondering what I had done to get it. I simply told them "unspeakable things", squinted, and smiled slyly. Emma C tried to convince me that it belonged in her Buffy Hall of Fame at her house- nice try, Em. I've got big plans for wee C, BIG plans. Get yer hands off my wee rector. Rector? Damn near killed 'er!

Thanks, you guys, for making my folks feel so welcome. They said they had a great time chatting with all of you. They wished they had more time, but had to leave. Their hearts were warmed that people would take the time to get together because of their love of this show. I keep telling my parents that it wasn't just any show, it was something else entirely. They agree.
My question is: What kind of ID or proof did they offer to show they were indeed my parental units? Aside from sharing my mother's quick wit, and my father's devestating good looks, there is no outward evidence that there is a bloodline there. What lengths did you go to in order to insure you weren't duped by the many Nathan Fillion Parent Impersonators out there?
Lastly, to Elliot: Be careful over there. Keep your head down and stay alert. If you ever have any doubts, just think to yourself, "What would Malcolm Reynolds do?" Be safe, and thanks.

Once again, I have come to the boards to see where all those Browncoats are, what they are doing, and how they may be speading the Serenity word. The movie is finished. Friday was my last day, Saturday the wrap party, and now, my days are my own. I have promised myself to get on top of some appointments, a carpentry project, and travel arrangements for a well deserved vacation. Yet so far, I haven't been able to pry myself away from the Universal lot.
Yesterday I darkened the doors of our editors in order to scam a copy of the gag reel for myself and some of my castmates (whom I later met for dinner). At the same time, I pestered Lisa Lassek to show me dailies from the final days shooting and together we fantasized about the finished product being a box office smash/little picture that could.
Now is the time to let this baby of ours go of to summer camp, put her in the capable hands of the counsellors at Zoic, have music and sound put to her, and let her grow up. It will be hard, letting go, but we have done all we can. Rest assured, Joss will be holding her hand the entire way. He'll be making sure she wears a life jacket on canoe outtings, and watching that she doesn't sneak across the lake to make out with the boys at Camp Flibbidee Joop.
As for spreading the Serenity word? So many people I see (my deli, sushi restaurant, and hardware store) say "Where have you been?" Filming the best movie of all time." I reply. "Serenity?" they ask. "Yes, Serenity indeed." I have also purchased 11 sets of the DVDs. I am driving them around to cast members homes to get them signed, and then I shall distribute them to the needy and loud spoken. One condition applies. The set shall be watched, then used to convert a least three people between now and Aprill 22. If among my friends someone already has a set, my autographed set shall replace theirs, and their old set shall be passed on for keeps, honoring the same condition.
What have you been doing to convert the unenlightened, hedonistic masses? How shall we wake the word from their Firefly-less slumber. Is there anything illegal about brainwashing or Firefly as a cult? Think of the tax breaks and the enormous amount of power I'll weild and abuse as a high priest, or just Captain. Ron can be high priest.

Post subject: Happy Holidays to all Browncoats from the Captain

Belated holiday wishes to the greatest fans a fella could ask for (and my fantastic castmates should they drop by this site). My wishes have all been granted thanks to a healthy, happy family, and a cousin in Phuket who is safe from harm and will be returning to us soon. Let the disaster that has befallen so many remind us all how tentative our grasp is on this planet earth. As much as we have, all can be swept away in an instant. I'm sending thoughts and prayers those who have lost loved ones and those who are still searching. I will be sending clothing, blankets, and canned food as soon as I return to LA, and hope you all do the same. Be well, Browncoats. Grab hold of your loved ones, let them know you are there for them, and make the most of all your blessings.

Ah, the Dutch. What can I say? I’m a very long way from home, and I’m chatting with folks who are invested in something that I, too, have invested in. It’s a good feeling. It’s a warm feeling. It makes this big marble we’re all spinning on feel just a little smaller, and me that much happier with my place on it.
About the movie, I’ll say this:

Hi all! Someone from work just got me hooked on this show I never heard of before - Firefly. I am hooked! I just saw this morning the 6th episode. This was the one with the Companion-trained, wire by-passing wiz, deadly-kiss girl. What bozo at Fox never spent enough marketing dollars on this show to get the word out about it?

I was just curious. Does Nathan still post on this site even though the show and movie are both done? I would be interested in knowing if he is going to appear anytime in the bay area. I am somewhat a late bloomer to the whole Firefly/Serenity phenomenon. Ever since I saw it, I can't get enough. I also can't tell enough people how cool it is. I am always amazed at the crap Fox keeps on the air. How could they cancel an awesome show like Firefly?!?!

Ah, Serenity. It's like coming home....a little messed up, a little goofy, lots of love, and too much fun to be missed I think I'm gonna end up burning up the DVD player trying to keep up with my Firefly Fix!

I signed up to this site to give my support to Nathan, to show him loyalty and thanks for his amazing work and really nice butt. But he hasn't just rested on that shiny ass, nor his lorels, for that matter, as he surely could have. He could have rested because he's given us something that will bring us all joy and pleasure forever... Capt. Malcolm Reynolds. Instead he took the time to write many endearing, passionate and newsy letters to us, his trusted, ever loyal fans. Personally, knowing famous film and TV stars I'm still overwhelmed that Nathan would actually have taken the time to keep in touch with us. But that's just the kind of guy he is. I just got through re-reading all those sweet and funny letters that he's written over the years... Amazing!
I fear we may be spoiled fans. Having him give so much we've grown fat and gready for more. Well, not I, Nathan!! I am a lean, svelte, muscular fan, strong enough to hold up both sides of this friendship. Don't you worry your pretty little head, Nate. You go do what you gotta do, and those of us what can will always keep the homefires burning for you; no whining about when you'll be back, no questioning your loyalty, joking or not. You don't question ours. I think that's fair.
