Who is everyones favorite, i mean, besides Mal, and why?

That's too hard. I love them all for different reasons. Who's yours? Maybe that will help me narrow it down.

I loved Nathan's performance as Caleb. He was one SOB. But my other favorite character he played (besides Mal) is Robert from Water's Edge. He handled all the emotions of the character so well. Sigh.....I want to bring him home.

For me it's all about the Mal. Caleb was good and vile and in only four or so episodes his character couldn't flesh out (so to speak) as well. I am new to the Serenity/Firely phenom and don't know what happened that I am so hooked and jonesin' for more. What can I do? Pity me and my addiction to Serenity. It's all about the Mal.

Mal is a hard act to follow, for sure. Coming from Australia, we got Season 7 Buffy well before Firefly. Americans already knew Nathan from Firefly, but for most of us Aussies Caleb was the first character we saw.

I admit to feeling a little trepidation when I realised the captain of the ship in Firefly was going to be the same bloke who'd played Caleb. It's a little like the Paul Reiser issue - I had a tough time with the first few episodes of Mad About You because of Burke from Aliens. Caleb had been so thoroughly evil that I thought I'd have trouble seeing past that to watch him as Mal.

But of course Mal won my heart right from the start. I still have a vivid memory of the look on his face in that opening sequence set in Serenity Valley (yes, one advantage of getting Firefly late was that I at least saw it in the correct order). That a man can convey such unutterable anguish and disbelief and betrayal and despair with one look amazes me to this day.

Nathan does indeed rule, and so does Mal.
