OH MY GOD!!! Where the hell to start..
THANK YOU, i guess would be a good place. thank you to you guys for getting me there. thanks to my dad for driving me. thanks to Flo and some pretty cool American browncoats that kept me company. and most of all... Thanks to Nathan, Alan, Summer, Jewel, Moerena, Mark, Ron & Chriss. you guys made my first ever convention one i will never forget.
Friday.
Arrived just in time for the opening ceremony. Claire Kramer was the cons mc and she did an awsome job of introducing the guests. all of which were on top form.. sweet sweet summer looked more overwhelmed than we were. the guys came on one by one, sad hello and how much they were looking forward to the weekend. After the openning ceremony people made there way out of the main hall so they could set up for the disco. the guests and the first 180 ticket holders were envited to a meet and greet. i was standing out side, looked up and who should walk straight past me?? The BDH.. But me being me i was to overwhelmed to say anything. i just gave a geek smile and then looked away.. i then walked over to the building where the meet and greet was being held and stood outside, looking at the con programe. then who should stand next to me and put out his cigerette? Alan.. i said " those things will kill you" and he laughed and said he was trying to quit. he said Nathan didnt like it, and he told me a story about one day on set when he had to shoot a scene with nathan and he was really going for it and Alan was really scared.. really funny
After the meet and greet the guests made there way out into the car park, where i met summer and gave her a present. she gave me a big hug, asked my name and how i was and then she had to go. she is so nice, so beutifull and so shy. Then Nathan and jewel walked by, at this time i still didnt have the nerve to approach.. but then i saw Alan walk out and walked over to him and gave him a little sonny mini bust from I robot i made for him. which he thanked me for, shoke my hand and then had to go. I chatted with Flo and some browncoats for a bit. then Chris came out and we all chatted about the movie and the trailer and stuff. he is such a cool guy. then i headed for home.
Saturday
arived at about 10.30. Watched a little bit of serenity (pilot not movie) before the guest talks started. the talks are a bit of a blur for me at the moment, again i was so over whelmed and i was concentrating on not making a fool of myself when it came time to have my picture taken with nathan and alan..
so an hour passed and it was time for the Alan & Nathan photo session. the numbers were called in batches so i didnt have too long to wait. i walked over, had my photo taken, i never realized how tall nathan is. i was sooo nervous i dont think i even looked at nathan, i hope he wasnt offended lol. as i walked off Alan shook my hand and said " thanks again for the present Darren". he rememberd my name, how awsome is that.
I Then went in and catched the last section of the Ron and summer guest talk. Then they showed an episode of space cases. everyone was sat there thinking HUH... And then, a 12 year old Jewel came on screen and the audience cheered. Then came Nathan & Alans talk. I cant stress this point enoguh, Nathan and Alan are 2 of the greatest guys you will ever meet. If you ever get the oppertunity take this advice. dont make the mistake i did. dont be too nervous to engage them in conversation. i was so overwhelmed by it all i didnt have the guts to talk to them properly. that is my bigest regret about the con. they are wonderfull guys and what time i did spend with them the memory will live with me forever. i`ll go into the details of the talks more later, as i can remember them. im still pretty much in a daze lol.
After the talk session it was autograph time. i was standing outside in the car park getting some air and i saw Nathan come out from the side entrance. he was making his way to the auto session. so. it was now or never. i calmed myself, pulled out the t shirt i had printed for him and apprached. he didnt have time to chat, bu he thought the shirt was cool, and he thanked me and then was off.
Then came autograph time. fortunatly i was able to sit with some other browncoats whilst we waited. and waited. and then waited some more. the autographs were done in batches. Nathan, Alan, Morena & Mark in one group & Ron, Chris, Jewel & Summer in the other. the higher numbers were with the first group of guests. and my number was 749 so i spent most of my time waiting prepare what i would say to nathan. and then it came to ticket number 720. and then.. that was it. autograph session closed for the day. i was so bummed, i spent the past 2 hours sikeing myself up,making sure i wouldnt make a fool of myself on my first proper meeting with nathan and it didnt happen. But i knew id get it on sunday so it wasnt too bad.
At the end of the auto session Morena walked out, she looked so stunningly pretty. i gave her a gift, and she thanked me and then made her way to the green room.
after all that waiting i went for a walk before the fancy dress parade. Before it all started a message was played in the mail hall on the big screen. Who was it you ask? ADAM!!! and not only did he say hey, but he sang for us. it was awsome. everyone was clapping and cheering, Adam, when you do finally make it over here you will have a blast
Then the parade started, some awsome costumes. The winner was a woman dressed up as wash riding a t-rex. it was awsome, i didnt get a pic of it but im sure i`ll be able to find some floating around. the guests were the judges and i think they made the right choice, the costume was amazing.
Then it was party time. the guests made there way out into the bar area and prceeded to chat with the con goers. i saw Jewel standing there and i pluked up the curage to give her her present. i babbled. i gave it to her, i said something along the line of its a gift and then giggled and walked away. i am SUCH A NERD. but she said thank you
The rest of saturday night is pretty much a blur.. i think i headed home soon after.. Oh, first i wacthed a Jedi light saber fight in the car park which was cool.. one of the guys shouted the classic line that im sure we all remember from star wars " DONT KNOCK OVER MY BEER" LOL.
Sunday.
i didnt get there untill 1. there was so much traffic. i missed the nathan & morena q & a as well as the chris and ron. and also the photo session with jewel and summer, but fortunatly the guy told me they were doing re shoots later in the day because there was a time miss print in the guide.
Then i took my seat in the main hall just in time for the Summer and Mark guest talk. then another episode of space cases and then the Alan and Jewel guest talk. Then all of the guests came on for a group talk session which was great. Nathan took the leed by telling everyone where to sit. he then took charge of the Mic. he truely is a leader. there were lots of laughs to be had. lots of morena and Jewel calling each other a b!tch. and summer looking so overwhelmed and in aw, but she really is a great young lady.
