The following story occured a few months ago when I was living in Malaysia:
As I'm typing this, there is a wonderful group of brand new Malaysian Browncoats jumping up and down with excitement about all things Firefly/Serenity!
We've made it to Asia folks - the words beginning to spread and the pressure for Serenity's release over the oceans is mounting.
How did it happen, you may ask? How did they come to fall in love?
It's all thanks to Nathan's hair. Or should I say, it's all due to his *bad* hair!
That's right! The bad hair cut in Miss Match has produced Browncoats! Who'da thunk it, eh?
I've been fortunate to catch all the episodes featuring Nathan during my stay in Kuala Lumpur. So, while chatting with some co-workers, the topic of english-language shows came up. Which shows they liked etc. Miss Match proved popular (huh) and talk turned (my fault!) to Nathan (how could it not *G*). Evidently, his hotness was not clear to these poor folks. "But he's got really bad hair!" they cried. "Noooooo!!!!" was my response. "You're just not seeing him in his full Captain Tightpants hottiness!" As a proud Fillie, I felt it was my duty to change their minds. So, out came the various pics and a quick viewing of the Gag Reel on my PC. "Mmmmm! Much better!" they declared. "Is there more?" *snerkle* "Of course!!!!".
How convenient that I had my DVDs with me at work! And since I had just moved out of my apartment and had packed all my gear for the trip back to OZ, my DVD player was in my suitcase (it was a bargain – so I’m taking it home!). So, the DVDs and the DVD player were packed off and sent home with Nazuha on Monday. By Wednesday, she reported back that she and her friends had locked themselves away and watched 2 discs already!
They’ve now only got 1 disc to go and have been bombarding me with questions about the show – “Is there more? Where are the rest of the episodes? Why did you only give us a few of the discs!?!” But with the movie coming out, they’re all jumping with excitement and have already started pestering their local cinemas about the release!
I’m taking my discs home to Oz on Sunday, and have ordered a few sets to be passed around. Don’t know how many new Browncoats we’ll create, but the future looks bright for this little piece of Asia!
And it’s all because of a bad haircut! Thank you Nathan!
