I saw an interview today with a woman from a non-profit organization called Noah's Wish; they deal exclusively with helping animals and their human companions before, during, and after natural disasters. Their site has instructions on how to prepare for a natural disaster, which includes evacuation kit checklists, broken down into categories--everything from housepets to larger animals like horses. I highly recommend taking a look at the site if you have pets; I thought I was prepared until I read the instructions and the checklist. It made me realize I have some work to do to make sure, if I have to leave in a hurry, my cats will be taken care of too. If you're interested in donating to them, they have a list of supplies they need that can be sent to them as well as how to make financial donations. The site address is www.noahswish.org
