In honor of Halloween, I thought it would be fun to tell ghost stories! They can be real-life experiences, childhood favorites, folk-lore or urban legends, etc.
Here's mine:
I have lived in 2 homes where odd things happemed. The first one my family moved into a few months after my mom and step-dad married. My parents awoke one night and heard music in their bedroom. They checked the clock radio, the tv and stereo in the other rooms, and then checked upstairs to make sure it wasn't me or my brother goofing off in the middle of the night. Then my step-dad went outside to make sure no one had pulled into our driveway or was parked on the road by our home. They listened for awhile and realized it sounded like a live broadcast of and old-time bluegrass show. There were no radio stations in the area with that particular format at the time. I used to wake up and see a woman standing over my bed quite often, which didn't frighten me, but I woke up a couple of times to see the hazy form of a man standing in my room which scared me pretty badly! My parents eventually built a house on land where an old plantation had once stood. My step-dad had the first experience there. He was staining the steps that led to the second floor when he heard footsteps go from one bedroom and down the hall to the other room but didn't see anyone when the footsteps were at the point in the hallway where he had a clear view from where he was standing. He left and refused to go back alone. I once heard footsteps come up the stairs, down the hall, into my room, and then walk across the room but saw no one. Our dog used to suddenly raise her head and stare, then start growling at something we couldn't see. I also experienced a rhythmic tapping on the brass headboard of my bed. The last major incident occured one Christmas eve when my brother and I were at my dad's house. My mom woke up and heard footsteps pacing back and forth between the 2 upstairs bedrooms. Our neighbors used to here what sounded like a party downstairs in their home--laughing, music, talking etc. The activity died down and nothing has happened in several years; I guess whatever is there is used to the family now!
