Biography:
A tall, brown-haired, blue-eyed Canadian import, Nathan Fillion possessed good looks and an honest charm that made him a particularly compelling soap opera hunk. His three-year (1994-97) stint on ABC's "One Life to Live" helped to pave the way for a budding film career and a regular role on the sitcom "Two Guys and a Girl", which he joined in a recurring role in 1998, making regular the following fall. A veteran of Canadian stage and television productions, Fillion, then a University of Alberta student, made his US debut in the 1993 ABC TV-movie "Ordeal in the Arctic", a fact-based disaster drama filmed in the actor's hometown of Edmonton. He relocated to New York soon after, having landed the role of Joey Buchanan, the son of heroine Victoria Lord and the late Joe Riley on "One Life to Live". Fillion's character, who had been adopted by Clint Buchanan when he married Viki, was often put in uniquely precarious situations, such as a forbidden romance with the decades older Dorian, his mother's arch nemesis. This storyline and others on the program showcased not only the husky-voiced actor's leading man potential, but his humor and affability as he more than capably handled both the requisite melodramatic scenes as well as lighthearted comedy while winning fans who watched his portrayal and friends who enjoyed working by his side. For his efforts, he garnered a 1996 Daytime Emmy nomination as Outstanding Younger Leading Man. Fillion went on to put his comedic skills to use when he was cast in the recurring role of Johnny Donnelly, the likable jukebox repairman boyfriend of Trayler Howard's Sharon on the ABC sitcom "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place". In the fall of 1999, "Two Guys and a Girl" left the pizza place behind, and Fillion joined the cast as a regular, moving in with Sharon and planning their upcoming wedding while attempting to bond with the difficult "Two Guys", scattered Berg (Ryan Reynolds) and jealous Pete (Richard Ruccolo). 5 Fillion made the move to features after he left "One Life to Live" and headed to Hollywood. He had a memorable cameo in Steve Spielberg's hard-hitting World War II drama "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), playing a Private James Ryan but not the one who is the focus of the search. He was next featured in the 1999 comedy "Blast From the Past" with a rare contemptible turn as Alicia Silverstone's shallow ex-boyfriend. He then went on to star in Joss Whedons ill fated but extreemly brilliant show *firefly*. Nathan played husky captain Mal Reynolds, a darker character than he is use to playing, who seemed to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. but as usual Nathan pulled it off with tremendous grace and gave life to a whole new world of fans, the Browncoats. Since fireflys untimely end Nathan has gone on to appear in Buffy the vampire slayers finale as demented preacher Caleb and a guest staring role on comedy drama Miss Match. the future looks bright for this talented young actor, in 2005 we see him in the big screen version of Firefly, aptly titled Serenity not, to mention various other projects he has lined up. one thing is for sure, as Mal reynolds he touched the lives of so many people, earning him the so rightfully desevred title of Cappy, wich pretty much sums up this all round fantastic guy.

Canadian-born Nathan Fillion won over audiences of all ages for his charming and romantic portrayal of Joey Buchanan. Joey found love with off-beat Kelly Cramer, despite the longstanding feud between their two families. Their relationship was on shaky ground, however, when Joey found himself drawn to Olivia, a beautiful, mysterious woman with a hidden agenda.
In 1996, Nathan was nominated for both a Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor and a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor.
The youngest son of two high-school English teachers, Nathan was one semester shy of graduating from the University of Alberta when he won the role of Joey and packed his bags for New York City. Though he is a newcomer to daytime television, he appeared in "Die Nasty," an improvised comedy spoof of a soap opera performed at a local Edmonton theater. Nathan is also no stranger to ABC: In December, 1992, he appeared in "Ordeal in the Arctic," a television movie starring Richard Chamberlain and Melanie Mayron.
Among Nathan's variety of Canadian credits is the television movie, "Strange and Rich," and theatrical performances in the Orlando and Edmonton Fringe Festivals. He also competed in Theatresports as a member of Rapidfire Theatre, an Edmonton theater company.
Since being transplanted to Manhattan, Nathan has taken to city streets for his latest interest, roller-blading. Among his other talents, Nathan boasts riding a unicycle, "washing cars, housework and mowing lawns."
Nathan was previously a regular in the ABC show "Two Guys and a Girl" and later played the lead role in the short run Fox series, "Firefly".
