I was wondering what you guys thought of Joss' decision to kill both Book and Wash? I personally think it was a pretty gutsy move but there are posters on the Browncoat site who are ready to lynch Joss, particularly because of Wash's death. I love both Ron and Alan and will miss them--although I hear they will both be in any sequels--but I think this is going to lead to some very interesting changes in the characters' relationships and lives. No, I don't think Mal and Zoe are going to hook-up but I think Wash brought out her softer side and with him gone, the question is will that side be surpressed by her more "warrior woman" qualities, possibly as a way of coping with her husband's death, just as Mal has surpressed his emotions as a means to cope with the pain in his life? And will the questions about Book's past ever be answered now? Was he an Operative or maybe a high-ranking member of Parliment at one time? Was he part of the Alliance forces during the battle of Serenity Valley and the horrors he saw there drove him to the monastic life? God, there has to be a sequel! Too many unanswered questions for there not to be!

He said himself like, I wrote it, and reread it, and then I realised everyone was happy and alive, and then I remembered I was Joss Whedon... *giggle* Book's death is justified in a way 'cause he makes Mal believe in something again, and that's just what he needed. But Wash... Ok it's really sad, but there's so much left to explore... There was some Zoë/Jayne tension after Wash had died. Okay, obviously not romantically, but were it a Tv show, there might be something there once Zoë's grieving over Wash is over. (or she can be pregnant ). Wash's death was sad, and it was a shock-effect, Whedon trademark! I certainly don't hate Joss for it, and indeed, too many unanswered questions. I want to hear more about Inara as well. Why she left Sihnon... the vial... etc  |
