ok guys, heres the deal. i started this thread last year, but i left it too late and nothing really come of it. this year how ever i am mr orgganized.. Heres the deal. I`ll be meeting Nathan again in november at the serenity squared con and that will be the perfect oppertunity to send him seasons greeting from NFO. and give him a gift. How do you fit in?well im glad you asked  you have from NOW untill the beginning of novemer (i`ll post the actual deadline later) to prepare and send in your special message for nathan. it can be a message of thanks, a message telling him how much you love him or just a merry christmas.. all messages will be put together in a big book and presented to nathan at the con. kind of like a huge scrap book. Your message can be anything. as simple as just a sentance of writing, a picture, a card, a drawing.. anything, the more creative the better. I hope you guys will all take part, this will be a reall great thing for nathan to have i`ll post more details shortly, where/how to send messages ect.. in the mean time, get thinking of what you want to do Take care guys, Darren |

Ok, so perhaps it was left a little to late to get something sorted this year. So the christmas card project will be put on hold untill next year. i`ll start it a few months in advance so we have enough time to get in messages and things from everyone who wants to take part. Darren |

I have a suggestion--I belong to a fan site for the TV show "House" and at the moment, we're in the process of putting together a "birthday book" for Hugh Laurie. Members are making their own cards and sending them to one of our members who has graciously volunteered to put the cards into a book format. That might be a good way for the members here to not only include their own personal messages, but also give them a chance to show off their creative skills. I was also thinking maybe we could send him an "ornament gift box"--people can make individual Christmas ornaments which we could pack up and send to him. Another thought--find out what his favorite charity is and take up a collection and make a donation in his name as a gift.

Hiya, I've done this kind of thing before for other people, the book is an excellent idea that works really well I can do a front or fly cover for it using my photo editing program (I'm quite the artist when I don't have to draw!)
Also Darren I'm going to be at Serenity Squared too, come and say hi and can I come along too when you give it to Nathan?

I'll tag along too (and Tan as well) It'll be like a mini-board meeting It's a great idea btw. I'm not that bad at drawing. I can try and make a Nathan-sketch and we can put our names on it or something as an extra? I can try and make a Nathan-sketch and we can put our names on it or something as an extra?<<<< we`ll enclude it in the book i was thinking about doing it with 4 entries(images/what ever you want) per page, but then i thought once everything is re sized and such it won look so good. so, each member gets 1 page each. it will probably be A3, so we can cram quite a bit in there so now, anyone doing a drawing, painting, anything.. insted of scanning it and then me printing it out you guys can send me the original and i`ll paste it into the book. that way it stays very personal, and doesnt lose any of the quality nearer the time i will be making Name tags for forum members, it will have the logo and your member name.. then on the first day of the con i`ll stand in the corner somewhere and hand them out lol. Cool Are you guys staying at the Edwardian? (me and Tan are ordering in a couple of days) Does anyone know if the con-reduction also counts for Thursday-night? (cause I don't wanna get up at 4 am to catch the first plane and get installed etc) God, I'm way to hyper, and I can't wait to get to the con! |

It sounds great Darren we did something similiar on another board, you could print out this thread and include it as well?
Just an idea, no big if it's not something you want to do.
CC I doubt very much that the Thursday is included in the deal at the Radisson, and it's really expensive too.

Darren--how big will the page be in inches, do you know? The only "artistic" thing I can do is cross-stitch so I'm trying to figure out if I can do something with that. By the way, I'm SO jealous of you guys going to Serenity Con! Nathan needs to do something in DC, Richmond, Norfolk--just anywhere a bit closer to me! (Crosses fingers and toes) |
